To go alongside the bibliographies of the Debates<\/a> and Journals<\/a> of the English, British and U.K. Houses of Parliament I have on this site, here are links to digitized versions of the Journals of the Lords and Commons of Ireland up to the Union of 1800.<\/p>\n

The archives of the Irish Parliament went up in flames in 1922, during the Irish Civil War. Consequently, records of the debates are scanty. ‘The Parliamentary Register: or, History of the Proceedings and Debates of the House of Commons of Ireland’ covers 1781 to 1797 in 17 volumes. Digital copies can be found on Google Books<\/a>, Hathi Trust<\/a>, Internet Archive<\/a> (digital scans of microfilms), Jstor<\/a>, and best of all, the Virtual Treasury<\/a>. This latter has also put the Cavendish Transcripts<\/a> (covering the years 1776-1789) online, and has curated some of the debates<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Journals of the House of Commons of the Kingdom of Ireland<\/h3>\n

There were four series of the Irish Commons’ Journals, some of which seem to be continuations of previous series. Queen’s University Belfast has compiled bibliographic data for three of them,<\/a> though that for the fourth series is incomplete, and I’m not convinced the rest is accurate (The second and third series seem to share volume 15 to 19; nevertheless I have followed their data.) Below\u00a0 are listed the digital copies I have found for various of the series, covering around 200 years of debates. Links are to Google Books where I have found them, Oireachtas PDFs, which can be quite sizeable, and Jstor.<\/p>\n

Journals of the House of Lords of the Kingdom of Ireland<\/h3>\n

The collected journals of the Irish Lords takes up eight volumes; two different digitizations can be found on Oireachtas (links to PDFs), and, taken from microfiche, on the Internet Archive. Some of the Oireachtas volumes are available through Jstor.<\/p>\n
